The "about me" page is the most difficult to write: in my opinion anyway. Part of the problem is that I do have rather a lot of sites, and a lot of those are personal websites. And I get tired of repeating myself over and over again. However, I doubt that anyone would visit all of those sites, so in a way, I am not really repeating myself at all. It's complicated! (If you have already seen a page like this at one of my other sites, just click away to somewhere else in the site.)
So, you want to know who I am, do you? The best way, if you're curious, is to surf around all my sites, but I hope this page will be useful as an introduction. The "about me" page is always the first one I go to when I am visiting a personal site. I do think it is the most interesting part of a site. This is the place where you can find out if the siteowner is anything like you: age, nationality, religious beliefs etc. In a way, it's like the showcase of the whole site and makes one want to go on further into the site, or not.
I was born in a small town in East Anglia, called Newmarket, where the famous racetrack is. But my parents came from the north east of England originally and they went back with me soon after I was born. I grew up, in the 1960's, in a small town called Birtley. Ah yes, I was a baby flower child. I remember I wore a flowery dress one day, for the primary school photographs and the photgrapher called my sister and I "flower power". It was all the rage back then, as were bells worn around the neck. I had one of those too; I was a "groovy" chick though not old enough to know what one of those was.
In the mid 1970's we went to live in New Zealand for a few years. My parents had meant to emigrate permenantly, but for various reasons, we came back to the UK and back to Birtley in 1978 (though my father went to Liberia in West Africa for a number of years). Then, when I left home, I spent five years in Birmingham in the West Midlands. I got married to a Brummie, P. (I know that most people on the 'net are nice folks, but for the sake of my family, I will stick to initials for names.) We went back to, yes, you've guessed it, Birtley a few months before our daughter was born. In 1993, when she was 7, we came to live in south Wales and in 2006 we moved to Aberystwyth, on the west coast of Wales. Somehow, I don't think we're going to move back to Birtley, despite it's seemingly irresistable pull.
I guess that the best way to really get to know me is by discovering what I like. So here goes . . .I love to read girls' school stories and books in general; I am interested in vampires and Victorian Gothic literature. I love cats and hens. I like taking photos of places I've visited and where I live; I am intersted in New Age subjects, such as aromatherapy, and I am a Pagan, honouring the Goddess Epona. Some of my other interests are: Robin of Sherwood, being Piscean, paintshop pro graphics, fantasy fiction, poetry, art, ancient history, country graphics, chivalry and courtly love, virtual charms and quilts and in writing.
We live in a tiny hamlet with two cats and a hen. I have an Open degree from the Open University. I am addicted to penpalling and websites. The rest is subject to change without notice.
